Its Official! (Featured Artist Rob Cham)

I have a series on neonmob! woohoo! You can collect it here - Ladies Night! Thats really all I have for this post I'm just geeking out!

I thought today I would pick one of my favorite artists on neonmob! His name is Rob Cham and he does very beautiful illustrations. His series "The Light"was one of the first series I started collecting. It's actually  a graphic novel. Illustrations aren't usually my first choice when looking at art, but there is something about Rob Cham's illustrations that I just can't get enough of. His art is simplistic, but at the same time extremely detailed. I just love all of his line work, but most of all I love his ideas.

NeonMob/why I haven't posted in a bit (featured artist Erin Cone)

It's been awhile since I have posted I apologize. I just came bag from an AMAZING dance weekend called BluesSHOUT! I learned so much and had so many  brilliant dances! I wish the weekend never ended. Anyway I'm here to talk about a different art not dance. Before I left for the weekend I learned that my submission for Neonmob was accepted!!! I have been holding in this news for what feels like forever, because it was right before my big dance weekend. So I created my series and now I'm just waiting for them to look it over make sure it is what they wanted. I'm nervous. I was so excited I didn't read all of the creating material like I should have. Hopefully if there is anything wrong they will just ask me to edit the series, but there is a possibility that they could cancel it all together. eek! Just the idea of having people collect my art is exciting! I really hope it goes well but either way you will be the first to know!

INSPIRATION TIME! Along with this dance weekend a good friend of mine introduced me to the artwork of  Erin Cone. I will be adding her today to my list of artists who inspire me.

Erin Cone's artwork is breathtakingly beautiful she combines realistic figures with geometrical shapes in their clothing or in the background. Its a melodic contrast that works harmoniously together. Its hard to even describe in words.  The flat backgrounds make the figures pop and when she combines that with her execution of flowing fabric it lets your eyes glide across the canvas. I also love that her figures are never quite fully looking at you. They either only show part of the face or the figures themselves are hiding their faces. The subtle hints to the emotions behind the pieces are unbelievably brilliant.

neonmob (featured artist Edvard Munch)

I discovered an art collecting site. Its like collecting baseball or Pokemon cards but with unique artwork! Its called Neonmob. If you click on that linkE and sign up you can be my friend on it. I am really liking it so far. Its interesting to see what other people come up with. I've submitted a few series so far, but no dice. People can vote on the series they like and then if the editors like it, it becomes a series. I would love my art to be traded. It would be so cool.  If you would like to help me get a series I will provide the links to the pieces I've submitted but please click the neonmob link to sign up first so we can be friends and get extra cards. If you could help me and vote for my art I would be forever grateful. That's really all I have for today... I just really want my art to be traded. Here are the links:

Edvard Munch

Edvard Munch was an expressionast painter and printer. I of coarse love his prints. When I was in printmaking my teacher pointed me in the direction of Käthe Kollwitz & Edvard Munch. I had no idea that he did prints, I like so many others only knew him as the guy who painted "The Scream".

Most of Edvard Munch's pieces are quite  dark and haunting which is right up my ally. Sometimes when I write about why I like artists I feel as though I don't know what to say. I don't want to give a bio of the artist... I just want to say why they inspire me. Unfortunately the words just don't seem to express how passionate I am about them. Edvard Munch is one of those artists  that I hear their name and it just brings back fond memories and rediscovering famous artists who are so much more then their notorious paintings, prints, sculptures etc. So without further ado my favorite pieces by Edvard Munch.

Self Portraits & Vincent Van Gogh

On March 17 I decided to start drawing a portrait of myself everyday.  The portraits could be from a mirror, old photograph, memory or a selfie I took that day. I have wanted to challenge myself for awhile now and the portrait idea came from watching Frida. It has been going well so far. and I thought I would share what I have so far with you. Let me know what you think. Before I share my self portraits I would like to share a self portrait done by my best friend Amanda. She came over to do art with me and I shared my portraits with her and she did one. Its pretty awesome. I tried to base one of my portraits on hers.

Amanda's Favorite artists  is Vincent Van Gogh who is also on my inspiration list so I thought today I would share my favorite pieces from
him. First I would like to share Amanda's favorite piece from Van Gogh which is one of my favorites as well.

"The Starry Night"

What can I say about Vincent Van Gogh his artwork is legendary. He is my best friend Amanda & my grandmother's favorite artist for good
reason. His use of colors in his painting are so vivid and vibrant. I always feel a bit warm and fuzzy when I see one of his paintings. I don't
know how to explain it but they make me feel at peace and calm, like everything is going to be okay. They also give me the feeling that
they are alive. It as if   I could close my eyes for just one second and  the painting comes to life but as soon as I open them its back to
how it was. I wish I  could live inside a Van Gogh paining.
