Frida

I finally watched Frida and loved it. I don't know why it took me so long to watch the movie, it came out in 2002. Frida is based on the true story of Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera. They were both internationally known for their paintings and are highly celebrated Mexican artists. They are also know for their fleeting marriage and Diego having an affair with Frida's sister. Frida had many health problems due to a bus accident. This accident caused her  to be isolated from others and shows up in a lot of her paintings. Her paintings also feature Mexican culture and traditions.

Frida is definitely one of the artists that I look up to. Her paintings often sad and contained personal/tragic things that happened throughout her life. She also painted many self portraits. I sometimes feel as though my art is too personal. Then I think of Frida and how popular she is and it gives me hope.

In my last blog I mentioned that I will be picking out a few of my favorite pieces from artists who inspire me each post. Below features my favorite pieces of Fridas.
