I believe it is important to spend time/make time for the people who are important in your life. I try to spend very Tuesday with my amazing grandmother who is also an artist. We started meeting on Tuesdays, because the Rockford Art Museum had a donation/free day every Tuesday. This week we went to see the Stephen Warde Anderson and the Young Artist Show: High school Division. I thought the show was really well done. RAM always does an amazing job of setting up the shows. Stephen Warde Anderson's artwork was pretty interesting and he is a local artist. Many of his pieces involved fairy tales, make believe or science fiction. He also had some pieces that contained U.S. presidents or famous stories. The Young Artists show however was my favorite part. There are so many different pieces of all styles and mediums. Its refreshing to see new ideas and upcoming talented artists. There points of view are fresh and haven't been influenced as much yet. Most of them haven't found their niche or their preferred medium. Just getting into the show gives hope and sets them down different artistic paths. I remember when I first won in a show. It was for Drowning Isn't Nearly As Fun As People Make It Out To Be,winning made me like intaglio even more.

The best art show I have ever seen was actually at the Rockford Art Museum. It was the Hollis Sigler exhibit. I knew nothing of the show we were going to see. My grandmother usually tells me all about it if she thinks it is something I will really be interested in. So I didn't have to high of hopes. I remember walking into the gallery like it was yesterday. The entire gallery had this wonderful, full of life yet sad energy to it. They had a 3-D replica of one of her paintings right when you walk in. You could actually walk into in the room and look around. It was breathtaking. All of here pieces have such vibrant colors and such powerful imagery. Hollis Sigler was diagnosed with breast cancer. All of her pieces are about how she dealt with living with this life changing disease. When I saw here pieces it was like I felt every emotion and was with her through all the heartache and ups and downs. Never have I witnessed so many pieces of art equally as powerful as the next. If you ever have a chance to see one of her exhibits I would highly recommend it.
